Textured Surfaces

These painting were created in different classes over the space of 2 weeks. First week was the initial creation of textured surface and foundation of the image. The following week when the base had fully dried out, acrylic colour was washed over and built up to finish them. Using a textured surface to paint on adds interest and depth to the work. Once completed they can look so different when illuminated from different angles. Often a subtle movement can make the image become more engaging and make you want to touch it.

The final image here (bottom right) of a "Woodland Walk" was created using

Modroc on canvas. It still has the same 3D qualities as the others,

but a slightly more rough texture.
